Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy A53 5G and the A33 5G, and almost as an afterthought the Galaxy A13.
The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G are almost the same phone. Both devices have IP67 water/dust resistance, an Exynos 1280 chipset, a 5,000mAh battery, 25W wired charging, and One UI 4.1 based on Android 12.
The main differences are in the camera setup and display.
While both have four cameras with a 5MP fixed-focus macro camera, the other three cameras vary. Starting with the main camera, the A33’s packs 48MP of resolution versus 64MP on the A53. Both pack OIS and an f/1.8 aperture lens.
The A33’s 8MP ultra-wide camera is boosted to 12MP on the A53, and its 2MP depth sensor is outdone by a 5MP depth sensor on the A53.
The display on the Galaxy A33 5G is also a downgrade, with a slightly-lower 90Hz refresh rate. Neither phone has a headphone jack.
Both devices have the same update promise as Samsung’s flagship phones, with four years of major OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy A53 begin today before becoming widely available in Samsung channels and major UK retailers on 01 April. The Galaxy A33 5G will be available from 22nd April.
Another addition to the Galaxy A Series, Galaxy A13 will also be available in the UK from 25th March.
