Huawei
US technology companies will be allowed to continue selling to Huawei under certain circumstances, after the US commerce secretary extended a second temporary 90-day reprieve. Wilbur Ross on Monday said the Trump administration would extend a temporary licence for companies to sell to the Chinese company if they are selling repairs or updates to existing systems.
During a press event on Wednesday, Huawei said it has pushed back the release of its foldable Mate X smartphone to November. However, this is in line with statements by the company's director of consumer business mobile phones He Gang who, back in July, stated that Huawei is still optimising the foldable Mate X smartphone and will  not release it without meeting quality requirements.
Huawei  has unveiled two new smart televisions, the first products to use HarmonyOS, the company's own operating system. The televisions will be available from August 15 in China and marks the first use of HarmonyOS, chief executive George Zhao said, adding that it will be marketed by its mid-range brand, Honor.
EE quietly opened pre-orders for the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G Thursday, and Vodafone, with little fanfare, has now followed suit. The 5G phone is available to order on 5G plans ranging from £68 per month with £29 upfront to £81 per month with £29 upfront cost.  Vodafone's 5G plans have no limits, while you have a a choice of data limits on 5g ready plans.

US government agencies will be banned from buying Huawei equipment after the Trump administration implemented a congressional measure to crack down on Chinese companies seen as security threats. A rule issued by the administration bans Huawei and other Chinese groups from supplying the federal government.
Huawei has joined the Paris Call in order to spur a collective action towards securing cyberspace. Huawei joined the Paris Call with 564 other entities who have made a public commitment to strengthening the security of digital products, and digital systems.
